New Stuff (Including Forts)!

Posted by anonymous on April 15, 2010 at 10:47 AM

Craig and I have been staying at the beach house for several days now and are happy to announce that somewhere between our beach walks, shell collecting, and golf games, we have managed to install new window blinds, glass slider blinds, the fire extinguisher, and….put the new gas BBQ together as well as adding a BEAUTIFUL new custom plaque on the front side of the house. Whew! It’s hard to work while you’re here!

Remember Fort Alsea Pacific? Well the competition must be on. There are several new “forts” being built along our beach right now. I think we have counted 5 so far. B.T.W., The Alsea fort our previous guests built is still standing (although not as tall).

The weather is a changing now—thank goodness! Five beautiful days for us! Unfortunately, our last guests didn’t have good weather. In fact, it was REALLY bad—sorry guys! We are hoping summer is here soon.

We had so much fun during our 5 night stay May 2010, we will be back. The weather was decent neither too cold nor windy. Carol has thought of everything and makes her guests feel very comfortable and welcome in her beautiful Alsea Bay home.

Josh, my wonderful son-in-law, added to the "fort" and drew people from all over to check it out and add their personal touch as well.

Our seashell hunting was a success with several complete Sand Dollars and a walk on the beach during low tide found that the sea lions have called the beach home just a short distance down the beach around the bend to the north.

We also had a good time clamming and got a nice "gaper" clam under the rocks and many smaller cockles in the sand in nearby Walport by the foot of the bridge. We also went crabbing off the docks in Waldport and had a lot of crabs in the net but no "keepers". The best bait used was beef liver in a nylon stocking put in the bait trap. Crabbing will get better when the bay is not so full of fresh water is what we were told by the "locals". The Oregon resident shellfish license for a year was only $7.00.

We highly recommend a stay at the Alsea Bay Beach House.

We had a wonderful time at the Alsea Bay house, the weather was spectacular and the view is just as spectacular! The house is beautiful, I love the sky lights, they really give the hallway and bathroom the natural light. Carol and Craig, you have done a very nice job with everything, and made our stay so delightful! Thank you
